Surrey Cross Country League 2024/25Match 4A Division 1 Men & Women + Young Athletes ~ EA Licence No.  CC2024/1230Saturday 8 February 2025 LocationEpsom Downs KT18 5LQStart and finish at Tattenham Corner. Note new mapHost Clubs Epsom & Ewell Harriers/South London HarriersPLEASE NOTE:  By Act of Parliament racehorse training has priority on Epsom Downs until 12 noon Monday to Saturday and 9.30 Sunday.  On the day of the race you MUST NOT begin to erect club flags or tents before 12 noon.  We cannot start to mark courses until 12 noon hence the 13.00 start.  If you want to do training runs before the event, note that the long course from M3 to M4 runs alongside an all-weather training gallop and you might be prevented from running on this path when horses are training.  TimetableRace 1 – 13.00 – U13 Boys / 13.05 U13 GirlsRace 2 – 13.30 – U15/17 Men / 13.35 U15/17 WomenRace 3 – 14.00 – Men's Division 1Race 4 – 15.00 – Women 's Division 1TravelThere are two large car parks at Tattenham Corner and a third (the 7th Furlong car park) inside the racecourse at the top of the hill.  We will expect 850 runners plus friends.  So PLEASE car share or come by public transport if you can.  Parking on surrounding roads is allowed but DO park sensibly.  Don’t create a traffic hazard or block people in neighbouring houses.  If we cause a nuisance we won’t be allowed back.  By Train: Nearby Tattenham corner station has 2 trains an hour. There are more frequent trains to Epsom Station but it is a 2.5 mile uphill walk to Tattenham Corner.  You can take bus 460 or 480 – 4 per hour from Epsom centre.   FacilitiesThere are very few facilities on the Downs.  There are no longer public toilets.  We will provide portaloos.  There will be no changing facilities.  There is a tea hut by the upper car park which should be open (but probably only takes cash).  The coursesThe 3k course for U13 athletes will be very similar to the course used for Downs league.  The 4km course starts with the same 1200metres and final 800m.  But it takes a diversion towards Walton Down in the middle.  The Downs are undulating and running surfaces vary.  They are mostly grass but there are sections of rough gravel, sand and dirt paths.  There is a section of smooth gravel path on the short course.  The chalk Downs drain well and there is unlikely to be much mud.
