Logistics & Travel:

Please note that there will be very limited changing facilities (at cricket club) and limited car parking (at Effingham Junction train station), so please come ready changed and use public transport if at all possible. Please can you ask that your teams do NOT park on the immediate road alongside the Common/Train Station or nearby residential roads as this is a condition of our local authority permission and will prevent us from being able to host future fixtures. Should you need to drive, please car share where possible and we would advise parking at East Horsley or Bookham train stations and making a short train ride/jog to the venue.

Course venue and details

Venue and course maps are attached and all courses will be fully signed and marshalled. They're less complicated than they look on paper! All races will include mixed underfoot conditions, undulating terrain and tree roots and other natural hazards. It is cross country, after all! Cross country spikes or trail shoes are recommended (although trainers may be okay if it doesn't rain too much between now and the race).

Tents & Flags:

Mini tents and club flags are allowed at Effingham cricket club, where temporary toilets and refreshments will also be available throughout the day.

Refreshments:

On offer for athletes and supporters throughout the day at the cricket club, will be hot food and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The cricket club is kindly opening especially for this event and will remain open after the final race.

General:

We have been granted permission to use the common on the basis that we leave the area in at least as good a state as before the event. Please use the temporary toilets at the Cricket Club if required. And please take litter home with you, even if it was not yours to begin with. As above, please consider using public transport or park in designated spaces at the local train stations.

Should you come across residents, including dog walkers, please remember that they have as much right to be there as you do and that we require the support of the local community if this course is to be a regular fixture for Surrey League races.

Please do let me know if you need any further details, but hopefully everything is covered here.

We look forward to seeing you all on the day, and would welcome you all to enjoy a celebratory drink with us post-race at the cricket club.
